My dad is very wise, no one would ever question that fact. But my dad likes to pepper his wisdom within a humorous idiom, so that it is more easily absorbed.
For example, today at lunch we shared this conversation into which my father interjected his sage advice...and also his wit.
Me: You know, people always want what they don't have.
Dad: That does seem to be true. The key is wanting what you DO have.
He paused for a thoughtful moment and concluded with this....
Dad: But you know, you're still right. People DO want what they don't have. Right now, I want a milkshake, and I don't have one.
